How do I add a playlist?

The first time, the app takes you there itself; later, open Settings › Playlists and tap Add. Give the playlist a name first, any name you’ll recognise. Then fill in one section: Xtream Codes (the server URL, username and password from your provider’s email) or M3U link (the link your provider sent). For a playlist file saved on your device, tap Import a file in the M3U section. The app checks that the playlist loads before saving it, and the new playlist becomes the active one.

Xtream Codes or M3U link: which should I use?

If your provider gave you a server address with a username and password, use Xtream Codes: you get categories, movie and series details, the TV guide and catch-up. An M3U link is a single address that lists the channels; it works too, with fewer details and no catch-up. The Paste a link button fills the Xtream fields from a get.php link, and an M3U link that is really an Xtream account is recognised and added as Xtream automatically.

What is a guide link?

It’s the address of a TV guide file (XMLTV, sometimes called EPG) for an M3U playlist. Many playlists already include one, so you don’t need to add anything. If the TV guide stays empty, ask your provider for its guide link and enter it in the M3U section when you add the playlist, or later in the playlist’s TV guide options in Settings › Playlists. Xtream accounts get their guide automatically.

What’s the difference between free and ElephTv Jumbo?

The free version has everything you need to watch: one playlist, the player, the TV guide, catch-up, reminders, favorites and takes, with ads. ElephTv Jumbo is an optional subscription that allows unlimited playlists and new collections, and removes every ad. Subscribe from the Jumbo card in Settings; cancel any time in the iOS Settings app under your name › Subscriptions. Already subscribed? Tap Restore purchases in Settings.

How do I switch to another playlist?

Open Settings › Playlists and tap the playlist you want. It becomes the active one, and channels, the TV guide, favorites and takes all follow it. An Xtream playlist whose account has expired can’t be selected until your provider renews it. Keeping more than one playlist needs ElephTv Jumbo.

How do favorites work?

Tap the star on a channel, movie, series or episode to keep it in Favorites for the active playlist. You’ll find them on Home and in Settings › Favorites, where you can filter them by kind. Removed one by mistake? Tap Undo on the message that appears.

What are collections?

Collections are lists you name yourself, such as “Sunday films”, each with a colour and, if you like, one kind of item (channels, movies, series or episodes). Creating a collection needs ElephTv Jumbo; the ones you made stay usable if Jumbo ends. Add items from their options, and rename, recolour or delete a collection in Settings › Collections.

Where is Continue watching?

When you stop a movie or an episode before the end, the app remembers where you were and shows it on Home under Continue watching; opening it resumes from that point. Finished titles leave the row by themselves, and you can remove one yourself. To erase everything, use Clear watch history in Settings; it affects only the active playlist.

What are takes?

A take is a quick note on something you watched: chips for what you liked (the story, the acting, the music…), an optional note of up to 280 characters and an optional rating from 1 to 5. Add one from a movie’s or episode’s detail page or from the player’s menu; for a series you can also leave an overall take. When you’ve watched most of a title, the app may offer once to note it, after the player closes. Every take is in the Takes section, where you can search, sort by date or rating, filter by chip, edit and delete. Takes stay on your device and are removed with their playlist.

How does the kids lock work?

Open Settings › Kids lock and choose a 4-digit PIN. Then lock whole sections, categories or single channels of each playlist. Locked items ask for the PIN before they open. Once the PIN has been entered, the playlist stays unlocked until you tap Lock again or restart the app. After five wrong tries the keypad waits 30 seconds.

I forgot my kids-lock PIN. What can I do?

It can’t be recovered. The PIN is stored on your device only as a scrambled hash, with no account or email behind it, so neither the app nor we can read or reset it. The only way to remove it is to delete and reinstall the app, which also erases your playlists, favorites, collections, takes, reminders and settings. You will then need to add your playlists again.

Why does the video stutter or keep loading?

Playback depends on your provider’s server and on your connection. Things that help: move to a stronger Wi-Fi or mobile signal; stop other devices that stream on the same account, since many accounts allow only one or two connections at a time (for Xtream, Settings › Playlists shows how many are in use); try another channel to see whether a single stream is the problem; wait a moment and try again. If every channel stutters at busy hours, the provider’s server is probably overloaded, and only the provider can fix that.

A channel, movie or series is missing. Why?

ElephTv IPTV shows exactly what your provider’s playlist contains; it adds and removes nothing. If something is missing, restart the app so the playlist loads again, check in Settings › Playlists that your Xtream account is active and not expired, and make sure the kids lock isn’t hiding a category. If it still isn’t there, only your provider can add it.

Why is the TV guide empty or showing the wrong times?

The guide comes from your provider. If a channel shows no programmes, the provider may not send a guide for it. For an M3U playlist, add the provider’s guide link (see “What is a guide link?”). If the programmes are there but shifted by an hour or more, set the time shift in the playlist’s TV guide options (from −12 to +12 hours, in half-hour steps), then tap Refresh guide.

What is catch-up, and why don’t all channels have it?

Catch-up lets you watch programmes that have already aired, or start a running programme from its beginning. It works only on Xtream channels for which your provider keeps recordings. Those channels carry a catch-up mark, and in the TV guide their past programmes stay bright with a replay mark instead of being dimmed. How far back you can go, up to seven days, depends on the provider. M3U playlists have no catch-up.

My reminder didn’t go off. Why?

Reminders are notifications, so the app needs your permission to send them: open the iOS Settings app › Notifications › ElephTv IPTV and allow them. Also check that a Focus mode isn’t silencing them. Reminders follow the playlist’s guide time shift, so a wrong shift moves them too, and they are cancelled when you remove the playlist. Your upcoming reminders are listed in Settings › Reminders.

Why are there ads, and how do I change my ad choices?

Ads keep the free version free. They appear when the app opens, now and then after a tap, and as cards in some lists, but never in the player or the TV guide. Where the law asks for your consent, you can change it at any time with Ad privacy choices in Settings. To allow or refuse tracking, open the iOS Settings app › Privacy & Security › Tracking. ElephTv Jumbo removes all ads, and the privacy policy in Settings explains the details.

How do I contact you?

Write to support@elephtviptv.app with your iPhone or iPad model, your iOS version and what happened. Please never send your playlist password; we don’t need it. We can help with the app itself, but a provider’s channels, account and billing are up to the provider.
